Legal Services
With nearly 50 attorneys, we are one of the largest law firms in the Hamburg area.
We advise primarily medium-sized companies to large companies, manufacturing companies, public-sector companies, and financial investors in all areas of business law; shareholders in their legal relationships to the company and as well as in succession issues; and private individuals in civil law matters and, in particular, taxation questions and asset structuring. In disputed matters, we represent our clients before courts of general jurisdiction, tax courts and in arbitration proceedings.
We emphasize the following areas within our comprehensive services:
- In corporate law, our focus is legal and fiscal corporate structuring, managing mergers and acquisitions of all kinds, in the areas of private equity, MBO/LBO, IPOs and privatizations. Cooperation among tax advisors and auditors under one roof is invaluable here, as in issues of corporate succession.
- Real estate transactions are another area where the multi-disciplinary cooperation of attorneys and tax advisors enables us to put together strong and effective teams at short notice.
- In employment law, ESC is a full-service provider on the employer's side in all employment consulting matters (personnel adjustments, compensation and flexible work scheduling, company agreements, balancing of interests and social benefits planning, umbrella agreements, nationwide representation in all proceedings, etc.).
- The ESC patent law team, which stands up to any comparison with an IP boutique, prides itself on its judicial enforcement of patents and utility models (100 court proceedings in patent matters in 2005 alone). The experience we have acquired in these proceedings benefits our clients in consulting and in concluding licensing agreements as well.
- Our procedural law experts have an outstanding reputation for the representation of our clients' interests in litigation. Sieveking Square, where the courts in Hamburg are located, was named after Dr. Ernst Friedrich Sieveking, a partner in this firm from 1858 to 1877, and we view this heritage as both an inspiration and a challenge.
